Sourdough Discard Pizza Dough
This recipe only yields 1 medium pizza. It was the perfect amount for my small family but I suggest doubling this recipe if you are making it for more than 2 people!
You can choose to skip the yeast in this recipe and use active starter instead. It will just take a bit longer to rise.
INGREDIENTS:
• 100 grams of sourdough discard
• 7 grams of yeast
• 140 grams of warm water
• 10 grams of honey
• 15 grams of olive oil
• 250 grams of flour
• 10 grams of salt
METHOD:
• Combine all of your ingredients and mix until it forms a shaggy dough. Let it rest coveeed for 30 minutes.
• Place your dough onto the counter and knead it until it forms a dough. This will take a few minutes. Add some flour if it is too sticky at this point.
• Place back into your bowl, cover, and let it rest until doubled.
• Once the dough has doubled, it’s ready to use! You may place it in the fridge at this point if you’re not ready to use it to avoid over-proofing.
• Preheat your oven to 450°.
• OPTIONAL TIP: Place your pizza stone or cast iron in the oven while it’s preheating to get it warm!
• Stretch out your dough to form your pizza and add it to your cast iron or pizza stone. Add your favorite toppings.
• OPTIONAL TIP: Want a buttery garlic crust? Melt about 1 tablespoon of butter, add a pinch of salt and some garlic powder. Mix well and brush it onto the crust of your pizza dough.
• Bake for 15 minutes or until your crust is golden and your toppings have set.
• Enjoy :)
