Sourdough Sandwich Bread
The perfect match for your PB & J.
Store bought bread is filled with additives, perservatives, and even seed oils.
This one is simply made with ingredients: sourdough starter, coconut oil, honey, flour, water, and salt.
The method here isn’t much different than your typical sourdough loaf. In fact, it’s even more low maintenance. One round of kneading and you’re done! Here’s the full recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
110 grams bubbly sourdough starter
300 grams water
55 grams coconut oil
560 grams organic flour
15 grams of honey
10 grams of salt
METHOD:
Mix your sourdough starter and water until well combined.
Add in coconut oil, honey, and salt, then mix again.
Add in your flour and mix until it’s just combined, don’t overmix.
Let it sit for 30 minutes.
Knead for about 2-3 minutes then let it sit until it’s doubled. This took about 10 hours for me but it’s completely dependent on the temperature of your home.
Once doubled, shape it into your loaf. I stretch it out (think: lamination) then roll it up. After, I stitch up the seams.
Place it into a greased loaf pan (I used butter for greasing) then let it rest until it rises again. I let it sit overnight in my fridge with no issue.
Bake at 350 for 60 minutes or until it has reached the desired browning you want. Finish it off by brushing the top with butter.
Enjoy!
